    All Music Guide Review

Until the two-fer Complete series of the 1980s appeared, this was the definitive Bunny Berigan LP to get; there was never a Volume Two. Spanning his two years as a big-band leader, this LP hits most of the high points (except for leaving out "I Can't Get Started" and "The Prisoner's Song"), including Berigan's entire Bix Beiderbecke tribute, "I Cried for You" and "Mahogany Hall Stomp." Berigan was the best trumpeter of the early swing era and this LP offers plenty of proof. ~ Scott Yanow, All Music Guide
