    All Music Guide Review

The words "VH1" and "Non-Stop Dance" are rarely used in the same sentence, but that didn't stop the cable company and Rhino Records from assembling VH1: Non-Stop Dance. For VH1, "dance" means classic dance-pop hits from the late '80s and '90s, and for Rhino it means their beloved mascot RuPaul, who inexplicably shows up twice on this collection. Still, even the heavy-handed pushing of RuPaul -- whose "Supermodel" deserves to be here, but whose "Snapshot" barely registered in clubs -- doesn't prevent the album from being a fun listen. Granted, some listeners will find the continuous mix a little irritating -- most listeners who buy Rhino product want hit versions, not faux club albums -- but it is fun to hear Nicki French's "Total Eclipse of the Heart," Everything But the Girl's "Missing," Right Said Fred's "I'm Too Sexy," Robin S's "Show Me Love," Paula Abdul's "Cold Hearted," Cathy Dennis' "Touch Me (All Night Long)," Taylor Dayne's "Tell It to My Heart," Jody Watley's "Looking for a New Love" and other dance-pop hits on the same disc. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
