RuPaul's Go-Go Box Classics is a collection of 18 disco, dance and urban tracks, many of which are little-known songs from superstars like the Pointer Sisters ("Goldmine"), Aretha Franklin ("Rock-A-Lott"), Paula Abdul ("Vibeology"), Diana Ross ("Lovin', Livin' & Givin'"), Natalie Cole ("Party Lights (Live)") and Cameo ("Shake Your Pants"). All of the songs are picked by RuPaul, who had become some sort of mascot around Rhino by the time this was released -- it feels like the label can't go three months without releasing a new RuPaul-related project. Nevertheless, Go-Go Box Classics is one of the better RuPaul records, since it has a lot of obscurities and rarities that make it an interesting listen. Not everything here is necessarily good, but at least it anthologizes songs that haven't appeared on collections before, and that alone makes it worth a listen by hardcore dance fans. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
