Aphex Twin

Aphex Twin's three-track Smojphace EP leads off with a remix of a track from Pressure, the Bug's dancehall soundclash of three months previously. "Run the Place Red," a feature for Daddy Freddy, leaves much of the vocal intact but matches his every line with a succession of rough ragga drum programs, sometimes two at once, usually firing in a crazy synchro. What he did to Nine Inch Nails with "Come to Daddy" he here does to the digital dancehall. The other two tracks are typical AFX anarchy, the first a seven-minute knob-twiddler workout for a sampled scream, the second very similar yet distorted and only half the length. ~ John Bush, All Music Guide
