Madonna's contribution to Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me's soundtrack was the infectious, William Orbit-produced "Beautiful Stranger." The song stands as one of the singer's more memorable moments, coupling 1960s go-go rock with 1990s electronica, resulting in nothing less than a true slice of old fashioned rock & roll. The import single was issued with the original, rock-leaning version, as well as a full-length and single edit of the sizzling Victor Calderone remix, which is just as good as the original. Amazingly, "Beautiful Stranger" was never issued as a commercial single in the U.S., which explains its relatively low-ranking peak on the pop charts. The song was nonetheless a summertime smash, and continued her winning streak that began with the album Ray of Light the previous year. With only two distinct mixes, this single still ranks among the singer's best, and is a must for any self-respecting Madonna fan. ~ Jose Promis, All Music Guide
