The nominations for the ninth annual Latin Grammy Awards—broadcasted from Houston's Toyota Center on November 13—were announced today. Café Tacuba received the most nods with six, including album (Sino) and song ("Esta Vez") of the year. Standing proudly right behind the Mexican alt-rock group is Juanes, who earned five nominations for his album La Vida…Es Un Ratico and the hit single "Me Enamora." According to Billboard.com, "the nominees lean toward Latin rock and alternative music, genres that, with few exceptions, have seen sales flounder in the United States … The Latin Grammys also placed special attention this year on new acts, with promising artists like Kany Garcia and Ximena Sarinana getting multiple nods" (four and three, respectively).
