After weeks of speculation, Britney Spears has finally revealed her involvement in MTV's 25th annual Video Music Awards. While she won't be redeeming last year's dismal performance with another round of writhing and lip-syncing, Spears is set to open the show in some way at Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
"MTV has long played an important role in my career," Spears said in a statement. "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs? I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated."
Spears' "Piece of Me" single is up for three awards: Best Female Video, Best Pop Video, and Video of the Year. While she's received nods before, Spears has never scooped up a Moon Man.
The VMAs will be broadcasted live on MTV this Sunday, September 7.
