Fans of Raging Bull, the 1980-drama about the rise and fall of middleweight boxer Jake La Motta, are up in arms over a purported sequel to the film which is being produced by Sunset Pictures. The original starred Robert De Niro, who underwent an extreme physical transformation, packing on several pounds to play a later-in-life version of La Motta, which earned him a Best Actor Oscar. Additionally, the original was directed by Martin Scorsese. Apparently, the sequel would be based on the book, with the screenplay currently in the adaptation stage. It is also rumored that the film will focus on the "before" and "after" stages of La Motta's life which were not explored in Scorsese's film.
Raging Bull fans are so disapproving of this possible film that they started an online petition to prevent it from being made. If you are Raging Bull fanatic and are opposed to this follow up, you can have your voice heard by signing the petition here: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/no-raging-bull-2.
