Portly actor John Goodman is heading back to work on Pope Joan, the medieval drama based on the historical legend about a woman who becomes Pope by pretending to be a man.
Goodman, who is set to star as Pope Sergius, settled his legal disputes with Constantin Film, who filed a $3 million lawsuit against him last year for his abrupt withdrawal from the picture, citing breach of contract. Neither Goodman nor Constantin would comment on the terms of the settlement, agreeing not to discuss in public or with the media.
In other Joan news, actor David Wenham has also joined the cast of the film, which has been stalled by lawsuits, script problems, and recasting. Wenham will play a knight who falls in love with Joan, played by Johanna Wokalek.
