Actor Mark Ruffalo will make his directorial debut with Sympathy for the Delicious. Ruffalo will assume double duty and has a role in the film as well.
Production on Sympathy will begin this fall in Los Angeles and will be financed by Corner Store Entertainment, a fledgling company that's a venture between Matthew Weaver and Scott Prissand, two friends with hefty history in the movie biz. The film will explore the plight of a paralyzed man navigating the mean streets of the City of Angels in his wheelchair. He inadvertently discovers he has the ability to heal the sick even though he can't cure himself of his own ailments. Ruffalo will portray a Jesuit priest who befriends the wheelchair bound man and helps him deal with his gift and curse. James Franco will also star as a rock singer who takes advantage of the new faith healer.
